Seven Rox Players Named to the FCBL All-Star Team

The Brockton Rox are incredibly proud and thrilled to announce the Futures Collegiate Baseball League has awarded seven Rox players spots to play in the All-Star game on Tuesday, July 21st at Fraser Field, home of the North Shore Navigators, in Lynn, MA.

The Rox had two pitchers selected to the team, inlcuding RHP Will Whitlock (Gainesville, FL, Stetson University), who has been boasting some pretty impressive numbers thus far in the summer, throwing 29.1 innings, earning 2 wins, while striking out 13 with a 1.53 ERA in 7 games. Our second All-Star on the mound is CJ Dandeneau (Smithfield, RI, UConn) who has started 7 games this season, striking out 32 batters in 32 innings pitched, with a 1.40 ERA.

The five position players selected for the All-Star Game include outfielder Nick Johnson (San Francisco, CA, Vassar) who is currently averaging .310 with 35 hits and 15 RBIs. Beside him in the outfield is Tommy Marcinczyk (Middlesex, NJ, Rutgers), who boasts a .315 batting average in 111 at-bats, with 35 hits, 22 RBIs, and 4 home runs. Utility player Tommy Stoffel (Englewood, OH, Virginia Tech) has impressive stats both on the mound and around the diamond. From the mound he has thrown in 7 games, earning 2 wins while striking out 17 in 13.2 innings pitched with a 0.00 ERA. At bat, Stoffel has hit 1 home run, 13 RBIs, and has a .268 average.   On June 14th he was the winning pitcher whilte clinching the walk-off RBI to give the Rox the win in the 11th innning.

Infielders earning the nod are Austin Filiere (Chandler, AZ, MIT) who has a .271 average with 29 at-bats, with 16RBIs.  Filiere was recently featured in the New England Baseball Journal  July issue.  Rounding out our All-Stars is newcomer Matt Dauby (Carmel, Ind, Virginia Tech) who has made an immediate impact with the Rox since his arrival a few short weeks ago.  He has played in 15 games, scoring 11 runs, hitting 12 RBIs, with 2 home runs and a batting average of .345.  Dauby was pivotal in the recent win over the Nashua Silverknights on the 15th of July, where his RBI triple brought in the tying and game winning runs.

Our All-Star contribution could include an eigth player, but it is up to you, Rox fans, to make that happen.  Let's rally for Andrew David (Pacific, MO, Tufts), a RHP who needs your support by voting here!

The Shaw’s Center and Brockton Rox Owner Featured in CommonWealth Magazine

This is not his first rodeo.  Chris English has previously owned several minor and independent league teams throughout the Northeast.  But this is his first time taking over an entertainment complex, including Campanelli Stadium at the function facility at theThe Shaw’s Center.  Both are seen as important pieces in the economical landscape of the city of Brockton, and both were in need of some TLC after several changes in ownership and management over the 13-year history of the complex.

English, who purchase the entity in November of 2013, and was also recently honored by The Catholic Charities of Boston (South) for his efforts in revitalizing Brockton and the surrounding areas through his work with The Rox and The Shaw’s Center.  He’s got big plans for the future and is not holding back in his aspirations.
