The Brockton Rox announced today that the contracts of RHP Jon Koch and LHP Craig Anderson were sold to the San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles, respectively.
Koch, 22, is a native of Berrien Springs, Michigan and spent two campaigns with the Rox. Last season, he posted a 5-5 record with a 3.45 ERA and had 62 strikeouts in 78 1/3 innings pitched. In 2004 he had a 1-3 record with a 5.47 ERA.
Koch was originally a 32nd round draft pick out of Lake City (FL) Community College by the Minnesota Twins. He pitched one season for the Twins Gulf Coast League affiliate in 2003 going 2-3 with a 2.73 ERA.
Anderson, a 25-year-old Australian, played one season with the Rox. He notched a 4-2 record with a 3.67 ERA. He tallied 7 walks and 22 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings pitched. Anderson was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Seattle Mariners in March 1999. He pitched six years in the Mariners farm system before being released in October 2004.
During his career, Anderson has participated in the 1999 All-Star Futures Game and was a member of the 2004 Australian Olympic Baseball Team in Athens, Greece.
