BROCKTON Left-hander Craig Anderson pitched eight outstanding innings and the Rox got just enough offense to beat the Capitales, 4-1, Wednesday night. Brockton won the series two games to one, and has beaten Quebec in five of the last seven meetings.
Quebec (15-13) managed just three hits in the game. The Capitales first hit was a solo home run by Lee Delfino which gave them a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
The Roxs initial hits came in the fourth inning. Jake Daubert doubled and eventually scored on Brad Rosenblats two-run homer to left, which gave Brockton the 2-1 lead.
Matt Cucurullo added a solo home run in the seventh inning to extend the Rox lead to 3-1. Brockton (21-9) scored their final run on a squeeze bunt in the eighth inning.
Anderson (4-1) allowed three hits and a run in his eight innings of work. He walked two and struck out three. Hard throwing right-hander Joey Cole pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 14th save.
The Rox will take Thursday off before resuming play at Campanelli Stadium against the North Shore Spirit on Friday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Dennis Oil Can Boyd will start for Brockton. North Shore has not announced a starter. |
